Project Estimator
This position is: Full Time

Position Location: New Iberia, LA

JOB SUMMARY

The estimator will report directly and work with the lead estimator on all bids and proposals up to and including industrial services, asbestos abatement, mold remediation and environmental remediation projects. Must be able to work unsupervised and extra hours as necessary, obtain subcontractor quotes and maintain client satisfaction.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to understand and interpret contract documents and drawings, familiar with construction laws and regulations. Understanding of procurement and contracting
  • Able to perform take offs of both civil and mechanical drawings
  • Prepare bids and estimates for both the private and public sector, lump sum, T & M and cost plus
  • Ability to conduct bid reviews and provide concise details and explanation of same
  • Have good interpersonal skills with client, subcontractors and vendors
  • Ability to attend site visits/job walk understand the overall scope and value potential risk and exposure
  • Identify any special health and safety requirements of the project and allow for cost inclusion of same
  • Maintain bid files both paper and electronic in an orderly manner at all times
  • Update management and departments as necessary
  • Work in a fast paced environment and ability to meet deadlines, schedule and prioritize as to company goals
  • Ability to perform other duties which may be assigned, such as involvement during an emergency response or oil spill project
  • Must be willing and able to travel as necessary to meet the demands of the company
  • Abide by company policies and procedures
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, MS Project and internet

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or five plus years of construction, industrial or oil field estimating or supervision experience.

Requirements:
BA degree or Higher education, 3 or more years related experience. Good knowledge of computer operation and programs (Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc.) for administrative duties concerning job related activities.
